Newest Projects – Natalie Tran

I've recently became an addict to a comedian on YouTube: Natalie Tran. If you haven't watched her videos, they're definitely worth checking out.

If you find Your Mom jokes offensive, you may want to not watch those videos :P

However, most of it's just great comedy.

I've launched 2 new websites: http://natalietran.me/ and http://yourmumrates.me/ which will be a place for her fans to interact, hopefully with Natalie.

I'm hoping to launch them soon! We're still getting it just right.

Who Did It?

Apple and AT&T are both claiming to have nothing to do with the decision to deny Google's Voice application from the App Store. This story continues to intrigue me, because now they've basically come to the conclusion that nobody is responsible for telling Google no (the first mistake).

Adam Ostrow writes:

Apple says that “contrary to published reports, Apple has not rejected the Google Voice application, and continues to study it.”

The key points from AT&T’s statement: says “Let me state unequivocally, AT&T had no role in any decision by Apple to not accept the Google Voice application for inclusion in the Apple App Store … AT&T was not asked about the matter by Apple at any time, nor did we offer any view one way or the other.”

I'm now curious who they suppose is responsible for denying the Google Voice app. This will continue to get more interesting, I believe.

If you're not well informed, or just haven't read my earlier blog post about the FCC getting involved, I suggest you take a gander at that. Or, head over to Mashable to read the latest full story.

Google sets new target: Microsoft Office

We all know that Microsoft and Google have recently declared a cold war. It's true; Google's talking about a Chrome OS, Microsoft plans to make the next Office suite web based, then Microsoft's deal with Yahoo, and then... Google launches a campaign, intelligently called "Going Google," to make things only more interesting. The new campaign has 1 Microsoft product in cross hairs: Microsoft Office.

The campaign will feature a series of advertisements focused around why some 3,000 organizations are "Going Google" every day. The most interesting part of this campaign, however, is the billboards that will be displayed in 4 locations. They will be updated every day for a month describing why those 3,000 organizations have decided to switch to Google Apps.

5 words, $5? No… Make that $12.50

The Associated Press has apparently had enough. They've now started charging people for the use of their articles, and they break it down into 3 categories: For Profit, Educational, and Non Profit. What's worse is that they have their staff on a leash, now they're trying to put a leash on bloggers and writers all over the world.

It was written a few weeks ago that the AP will begin cracking down on unpaid use of articles on the web in the New York Times.

They're also complaining about the fact that blogs and news aggregators (like Google News) are taking content and stealing all of the revenue. This raises a number of questions, to me at least, about where they think a lot of their traffic originates.

[Note: More information about this is available, and you can read about it over at Mashable... Associated Press: We Are Not Targeting Bloggers]

Video: Woman Drags Kid Through Store

This video is quite disturbing. This is definitely not the way you should control your children. You use candy instead. You'll burn less calories, but you'll get there just as fast.

"An Alabama woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say she injured a child while dragging it through a store in Rome. According to Floyd County Jail records:

Melissa Catherine Smith-Means, 37, of Gaylesville, Ala., was arrested by Rome police around 12:30 p.m. She was charged with felony first-degree cruelty to children. Police say she was observed by customers and employees at a store on Broad Street, dragging a small child around by a backpack leash. The child had visible marks on the neck from the incident. She remains in jail without bail."

FCC’s getting involved about Apple/AT&T’s rejection of Google Voice app

I find this dispute to be quite humorous. If you haven't read my first blog post on the matter, I suggest you head over and check it out. However, in brief, the official Google Voice app as well as others like it were all removed from Apple's App Store, claiming that they "duplicated" features already available on the phone; their way of saying, "But AT&T will loose money! So will we!" And just when I thought the story couldn't get any better, AT&T, Apple, and Google get letters from the FCC regarding the removal of the Google Voice app.

Jason Kincaid has posted all 3 letters for your viewing pleasure.

Google Voice is an amazing service that allows users to use get 1 (free) phone number and have it ring all of your other phones. The idea is to have 1 number tied to you, instead of your work, home, and cell. It offers free, unlimited text messaging and some very inexpensive international calling rates. Best of all, the service is entirely free, and is very convenient and easy to use.
